| Mrs Sarah Murdoch - NBCF Patron
Sarah Murdoch has been associated with the NBCF since 1997 when she accepted the role of international spokesperson for Fashion Targets Breast Cancer, Australia. During this time she has become increasingly concerned at the impact of breast cancer on women, across all age groups, their carers and families.
As Patron, Sarah sees her role as raising the consciousness of business, the media and the wider community about the continuing need for new knowledge to improve the detection and treatment of breast cancer and to ultimately find its causes - giving us the potential to prevent it.

It's a sad reality that most of us have been, or will be touched in some way by breast cancer during our lives. So, ALL of us should be supporting organisations who work long and hard to raise funds toward the prevention, detection and treatment of breast cancer. I'm enormously proud and humbled to be a National Breast Cancer Foundation ambassador and hope to encourage others to join the fight towards eradication of this disease. |

"I have many charity requests but the National Breast Cancer Foundation and cause stands out for me, as every female I know has been touched in some way by some one who has had the disease. Quality of life is so contingent of being well and it is important for me to feel I can contribute to Women's health, even if only it is in a small way in such a positive environment." |

"Breast cancer is being detected earlier and there have been huge advancements in the way the disease is treated. These improvements are all due to research, which is funded by organisations like the National Breast Cancer Foundation. Further research needs to be conducted to fulfill the NBCF’s goal of finding the prevention and cure of breast cancer. I am proud to be an Ambassador and to work towards this goal." |

"With the number of Australian women diagnosed with breast cancer sadly on the increase, it is imperative for all of us to support work towards improved treatment and ultimately a cure for this disease. There have been too many people in my life adversely affected by breast cancer and it is for them and for those women yet to be diagnosed that I am happy to support this worthy cause. By supporting the amazing work carried out by the National Breast Cancer Foundation, perhaps we can one day eradicate this disease." |

"My Aunt is a breast cancer survivor. I was blown away by her amazing strength, courage and gusty approach to overcoming this awful disease. As an Ambassador for the National Breast Cancer Foundation, I’m passionate about raising awareness about the benefits of early detection – because that’s what saved my Aunt’s life. And until we find a cure, that’s what will continue to save the lives of our mothers, daughters and sisters everywhere." |

As a little girl I can clearly recall my mum talking to other women on the phone whispering words like prognosis and chemotherapy, full of fear and concern for the fate of her friends. Before too long I was confronted with the same terrors. I have witnessed dear friends and neighbours, mums at school, fight bravely against the disease and I am happy to say that they have been survivors. But their suffering is evident and affects them still...forever. |

"When I was 12, mum found a lump in her breast and for those few days my world fell apart until she was diagnosed with non-cancerous fibroids. My husband wasn't so lucky.
