Meeting the Challenges Report 2003 2003 - Breast Cancer research in Australia: meeting the challenges

National Breast Cancer Foundation published the findings from a series of national consultations undertaken to identify gaps in opportunities in Australia to guide priorities for breast cancer research. A broad range of breast cancer researchers and consumer advocates identified that the continued lack of coordinated research funding and of a formal national breast cancer strategy remained significant impediments to progress in breast cancer research in Australia.

National Action Plan 20042004 – Challenging Breast Cancer: A National Action Plan for Breast Cancer Research and Funding

The National Breast Cancer Foundation, in respect to the Priorities report, established an Expert Advisory Committee composed of leading cancer clinicians, researchers and advocates with expertise in many areas of the breast cancer continuum. The Committee surveyed the current spectrum of breast cancer research in Australia and developed a plan they believed could significantly accelerate breast cancer research, if fully funded.
