Ain't they sweet for a top cause?
BRIGHT pink wigs!
There's not a lot Professionals South Australia Chief Executive Ted Piteo won't do to raise money for the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
Last year on Pink Ribbon Day, Ted took up a dare to wear a pink bra and G-string to raise $3000.00 for the NBCF.
On Monday, during this year's Pink Ribbon breakfast auction he hosted at the Pavilion on the Park, Ted agreed to don a bright pink wig to conduct an auction to raise additional funds.
More than 100 Professionals staff from across the state attended the breakfast to see Ted and his fundraising cohorts - four-time Golden Gavel winner Brett Roenfeldt, Realestate.com.au of SA State Sales Manager Kym McGuinness and Real Estate Institute of SA Chief Executive Toney Myers - conduct a charity auction in hot pink wigs.
Professionals is a Diamond partner of the foundation and organises regular activities, including the Pink Ribbon Day breakfast, to raise awareness and much-needed funds. Every Professionals salesperson donates a percentage of their sales commission and presented the foundation with a cheque for $20,000.00.
In SA, the Professionals Group has contributed more than $75,000.00 to the NBCF over the past three years. It feels great to know we are helping fund research to find a cure for this insidious disease that has and will touch many lives.

Professionals WA - Pink Ribbon Breakfast 2007
Professionals, Sponsors, Corporate Guests and Friends crowded into the beautifully decorated Grand Ballroom at the Hyatt Regency for the annual Pink Ribbon Breakfast. This awesome event raises much needed funds for the National Breast Cancer Foundation - and this year's total smashed the record set last year. Money is still coming in, but so far we are well over $25,000!! That is a truly fantastic amount, which we will proudly present to the NBCF to help with their research into prevention and cure of this widespread disease.
The entertainment on the day was diverse and dynamic, with Brazilian drumming group Sambalicious opening the show, followed by the introduction of our MC, Jenny Seaton, and then two songs by Perth musician (and former Australian Idol star) Chris Murphy. Our own Professionals Idol Brendan Clark followed the fashion parade with his version of Pretty Woman, and then we welcomed our main speaker Bruce Yardley. Bruce's humourous and irreverent presentation was enjoyed by all, as the former International cricketer spoke about his experiences in sport, the media and his own brush with cancer. Continuing the important theme of the morning, the aim to cure cancer, Jo Firth from Breast Check gave a short talk on the reasons for, and ways to, effectively check breasts.
Throughout the breakfast we had corporate health and fitness messages from Shining Light, raffle ticket draws and spot prizes, and the event culminated with a giant charity auction, with items donated from many Professionals offices and local businesses. The Wellstead Team at Bassendean really got behind this event and the NBCF and sourced an amazing 30+ prizes! Our sincere thanks go everyone who attended, and especially the following who donated time, cash and prizes

Professionals Gawler and Elizabeth Craigmore proudly support the National Breast Cancer Foundation and with October being the International Breast Cancer Awareness Month the team had a very big month planned.
On Friday 26th the Gawler office held a special morning tea with all money collected going straight to the foundation. The team at the Professionals Gawler and Elizabeth Craigmore had fund the entire morning tea and the event raised considerable funds. On Thursday 18th October Professionals Elizabeth Craigmore held a sausage sizzle at the Elizabeth office, again with all funds going straight to the foundation and therefore more research.
On Monday 22nd the sales team attended the NBCF Pink Ribbon Auction Breakfast at the Pavilion in Adelaide to raise further funds for this worthy cause. As an added bonus Principal Justin Mazzeo identified further means to raise funds when he challenged his sales team to think outside the square – and in particular offered a $500 donation to the first of his sales team to place a new property up for sale while dressed in a pink tutu. Two of the sales team from Professionals Elizabeth/Craigmore decided that was an offer worth accepting so much to Justin’s surprise Lynette Bajwa and Jo Hocking arrived at training wearing pink tutus. Even more surprising was the fact that Malcolm Bellman a great sport and supporter of cancer research was more than happy to play along and also wear a pink tutu for the cause.
To assist in the fun balloons were donated by the Helium House in Gawler and the Alakazam Costume Shop also provided a discount on all costumes. Jo and Lynette are to be congratulated on their effort to think outside the square and for their ability to drive the fund raising efforts of the team with such a bold start.
Lynette Bajwa comments, “I joined this high profile team and fully expected it to be a great place to work but I did not realise just how much fun it would be. When Justin threw down the challenge for us to think outside the square and go all out to raise funds in October we laughed at his suggestion of tutu’s and then thought why not! It’s worth $500 to the foundation and that’s something. We can’t wait to see who follows this up – it will have to be something very special because three pink tutu’s is a hard act to follow.”
Jo Hocking said, “Lynette and I decided after the sales meeting that we would go the extra mile and do something different to raise funds. I learnt when I started selling real estate that just doing your job would never give you true job fulfilment and realised that to be really, really good in this industry you had to do that extra bit. Whether it’s helping someone find a new house before they sell, being patient with someone while they make a decision or spending an entire weekend showing a family homes – those things matter to people. That’s why I decided to do this – to give a bit more back those around me, and if I can laugh in the process then that’s a bonus”.
Already known for their willingness to give back the team has been inspired to go all out this month in an effort to raise funds.
Justin Mazzeo says, “It was really said tongue in cheek, but the girls are always out for a laugh. I guess we work such long hours in this industry that we need to make things fun. Having a sales team that is not afraid to laugh at themselves makes working with this group even more enjoyable. I admire the confidence of both Jo and Lynette and Malcolm was a great sport to participate. It cost me $500 but it’s worth it to donate to such a worthy cause.”
Sales manager Derek Vickers said, “I couldn’t believe it when the girls told me they were going to do it but they are full of fun and have such great attitudes. I think that’s what makes them so good at what they do. They are happy to go the extra mile and the same applies when they are selling houses. They do the extra little things that make the difference.”

On Sunday 23rd of October 2006, Namoya Ball from Professionals Blackwood had her usual Breast Cancer Breakfast. The Zonta Group, who makes the pink pillows for the breast cancer patients, came and brought their pillows and information on the service they offer. The Zonta group visits all hospitals and leave a pink pillow on the beds of the patients while they are having surgery. The pillows are of great comfort to the patient and help the pain relief while they are getting over their surgery.
They all enjoyed the breakfast and exchanged stories and new friendships were formed.
This is the third year that Namoya has had the breakfast. With the raffle, donations, ribbon sales and light bulbs, Namoya has raised approx $650.00 for the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
A special thank you goes to Coromandel Valley Community Centre and special friends who helped Namoya in being able to have this breakfast.
