GIFTS IN WILLS generations

The National Breast Cancer Foundation's goal is to reduce the impact of breast cancer through research and achieve zero deaths from breast cancer by 2030. Saving the lives of women diagnosed with breast cancer is one that is achievable with research and the kind of support that bequests can provide.

A research project can take around 10 to 15 years to progress; bequests allow NBCF a considerable degree of flexibility in planning for the future to fund these vital projects. This long-term vision highlights why a gift in your Will is such a unique opportunity to make a difference beyond your lifetime. A gift for the benefit of future generations.

If you share this vision, then please consider leaving a gift to the National Breast Cancer Foundation in your Will, and help us work towards a future without breast cancer.

How to leave a gift in your Will to support Breast Cancer Research into the future

Making a gift to the National Breast Cancer Foundation in your Will is easy. You can either include the bequest when you write your Will, or simply add one as a codicil to your existing Will. In either case, you should seek professional advice from a legal adviser to ensure your wishes are recorded in a legally binding way.

A brief personal message to you from our CEO, Carole Renouf.

The few simple steps are:

  1. Firstly ensure you have a Will and that your family and friends have been taken care of.
  2. We would always recommend taking care of your family and friends first, and then leaving a percentage or the remainder of your estate to the National Breast Cancer Foundation. Alternatively, you can leave a gift of a specific sum or specific item, such as shares or property.
  3. Contact your solicitor or the executor of your Will to let them know that you would like to include the National Breast Cancer Foundation in your Will.
  4. Simply give the following wording to your solicitor/executor to include in your Will or as a Codicil to your Will once you have decided what kind of gift you would like to include:

'I bequeath to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, ABN 37 144 841 707, to support breast cancer research: either (the remainder of my estate), (xx percentage of my estate), (the sum of $xx), (the specific items of xx) free of all duties and taxes including, if any CGT, and the receipt of the Secretary or other authorised officer for the time being shall be a complete and sufficient discharge for the executor(s).'

If you don't have a Will then please contact your solicitor for advice. If you have any questions please contact our Bequest Officer, Sharne Nicholls by calling direct on 02 8098 4848 or 1300 708 763, via email sharne. nicholls@nbcf.org.au or by completing the form below:

We understand that making a Will is a very personal decision, however if you are considering or have already remembered NBCF in your Will, we would welcome the opportunity of thanking you personally. It also enables us to keep you up to date with our research and send you invitations to special NBCF events. Sharing your plans with us ensures that your wishes will be met and also assists us with planning for the future. Please print NBCF's "Confidential Bequest Advice Form" and send to:
